Last week, my family and I took a road trip to the National Book Festival in Washington DC (read more here). It was a fun road trip, and I wanted to share my tips with you on how to have a successful road trip.
Tip 1. Food for Family
Any road trip needs enough snacks to last the drive. I suggest buying the snacks a few days before you set off. Some hotels have a little market place in the lobby but the prices are ridiculous! $6 for a bottle of tea! Can you believe that? Make sure that there is a place where you can purchase food for a lower price. Our hotel had a grocery store across the street.
Tip 2. Bookworm
Bringing your favorite books is key to not being bored out of your mind. On this trip, I brought my Dork Diaries 5: Tales from a Not-So-Smart Miss Know-It-All and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. What are your favorite books when you go on a road trip?
Tip 3. Engaged in Entertainment
Movies, TV shows, even music videos can make your road trip a success. If you have Netflix, download your favorite movies and shows ahead of time, or bring a DVD player and some great movies. I have fond memories of watching Barbie on road trips when I was six years old.
These are my tips for a load of family fun on the highway. Have fun on your road trip! I know I did!
